ProPort uses the normal hitch play to regulate braking between the RV and Toad.

The old days of uncontrolled "surge" brake design have been updated to the new Dynamic regulating design of ProPort, which is keeping the "Tail from wagging the Dog" by controlling the ToadBrake when you apply braking in the RV, as the vehicles push or pull against each other. During push from the Toad on the RV receiver, the brake will apply in the Toad only if you apply the service brakes in the RV. When the Toad stops sufficiently and pulls back on the RV receiver, ProPort senses this and releases the ToadBrake and braking resumes when the Toad pushes on the RV receiver again. ProPort will regulate Toad braking as long as you still have the RV service brakes applied. When the brakes of the RV are not applied, ProPort is dormant and not regulating the ToadBrake, because it must first receive braking input from the RV. This Patented device recognizes that no two vehicles stop the same, and speed/distance always vary with each stop! No two stops you make driving are ever exactly the same, speed and distance always vary! Only ProPorts' proprietary Patented dynamic circuit keeps the vehicles stopping together, "PROPORTIONALLY" in a stop!
